01 · The problem
Starting with the friction, not the feature list.
Indonesia's cultural heritage is scattered across fading oral traditions, personal photos, and fragmented records. There was no single accessible place for communities to document traditions together, and no practical way to verify crowdsourced entries at scale.
02 · The approach
Turning observations into deliberate decisions.
- 01
Built a cross-platform Flutter app for browsing and submitting cultural entries with photos, descriptions, and locations.
- 02
Designed role-based access for Admin, Curator, Member, and Guest so every contribution is reviewed before publication.
- 03
Added gamification and leaderboards to sustain participation, and used the Gemini API to pre-evaluate submissions before curator review.
03 · Challenges
Constraints that made the solution stronger.
- Balancing open contribution with the quality control needed for a credible cultural archive.
- Designing four distinct roles without making members feel locked out of the core flows.
- Combining AI evaluation with human curation so automated scores support rather than replace curators.
04 · Outcomes
What changed—and what I would improve next.
- Shipped a live platform at karyanusa.ngelantour.cloud covering submission, review, and publication end to end.
- Reduced manual review effort by letting Gemini pre-screen submissions for completeness and relevance.
- Sustained participation through points, badges, and provincial leaderboards.
